Beyond Screens is a one-hour workshop for educators focused on engaging learners in many modalities of technological creation. Participants explore a range of tools and techniques for creating multisensory learning experiences which incorporate artmaking and technology. From creating hand-made light-writing wands and experimenting with long-exposure photography, to exploring scale and texture by combining lenses with video sensing and coding.
Special consideration is given to the practicalities of classroom environments, like budget, time and space. Participants walk away with resources which include budgeted supply lists, potential curriculum connections, tips, and tutorials.
This workshop took place at the 2019 Connected Learning Summit. It was co-facilitated by Alethea Campbell and Lily Gabaree.
