PLAYFUL PROJECTIONS | Coding Immersive Experiences
In this workshop, educators had the opportunity to explore a variety of methods for creating playful, immersive experiences which combine coding with video projection and physical objects. Experiments included, navigating virtual worlds using a micro:bit, using physical objects to interact with virtual spaces, and bringing hand-drawn elements into Scratch.
This workshop took place at the Connected Learning Summit. It was co-facilitated by members of MIT's Lifelong Kindergarten Group, The Tinkering Studio, and Fondazione Reggio Children - Centro Loris Malaguzzi.
BEYOND SCREENS | Multisensory Learning Experiences
Beyond Screens was a one-hour workshop for educators focused on engaging learners in many modalities of technological creation. Participants explored a range of tools and techniques for creating multisensory learning experiences which incorporate artmaking and technology. From creating hand-made light-writing wands and experimenting with long-exposure photography, to exploring scale and texture by combining lenses with video sensing and coding.
Special consideration was given to the practicalities of classroom environments, like budget, time, and space. Participants walked away with resources which include budgeted supply lists, potential curriculum connections, tips, and tutorials.
This workshop also took place at the Connected Learning Summit.
